Description :   Very close to the common Estrilda astrild but distinguished from it by its black rather than red mask. Bill is a little smaller. Otherwise, also have a striated plumage and a red belly patch.  
     
Habitat :   Endemic to Katanga. Its status is still uncertain and BAK is busy doing research on it. Only found around the lake Upemba and along the Lualaba banks.  
     
Behaviour :   Gregarious bird moving in groups of about 20 individuals.
