Description :   Length: 11 cm; wingspan: 28 cm; forearm: 5 cm; weight: 11 g. Soft and woolly fur, coppery red above and paler below. The base of the interfemoral membrane is covered by reddish-brown hair. Muzzle is long and pointed. Wing membranes and ears are brown. Tail is long and completely enclosed by the interfemoral membrane.  
     
Habitat :   Woodland and savannah. 
     
Behaviour :   Lives in colonies. Roosts in caves and mines. Slow flier.  
     
Diet :   Insects.  
     
Life history :   After about 63 days of gestation, females give birth to a young.
