Description :   Darker than its cousin the Corn Crake, this bird has white-and-black barred belly and flanks. It is distinguished from the african rail by its short bill and its lighter upperparts.  
     
Habitat :   Not necessarily enfeoffed to water, this crake is not very common in Katanga. Migratory, it lives its habitat at the end of April before the first fires come and destruct its grassy habitat.
